Injury updates from the Dallas Cowboys are raising serious concerns about their depth and game plan heading into what could be a pivotal stretch of the season.
The Dallas Cowboys have officially ruled out five players for their upcoming game, while listing another seven as questionable due to various injuries. Among those sidelined is star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who continues to deal with an ankle sprain. This marks the third straight game he’ll miss — along with right guard Tyler Booker, who is also nursing an ankle injury.
Interestingly, the team has opted not to place either Lamb or Booker on injured reserve. This decision suggests they’re aiming for a best-case scenario where both players return after just three weeks on the sidelines. However, this strategy walks a fine line between optimism and risk, especially if either player reaggravates the injury by returning too soon.
And this is the part most people miss: Even though these absences are short-term on paper, losing key contributors like Lamb can significantly impact offensive rhythm and overall team performance.
Beyond Lamb and Booker, several other players won’t suit up this weekend. Wide receiver KaVontae Turpin is out with a foot issue, linebacker Jack Sanborn is recovering from a concussion, and running back Miles Sanders will officially move to season-ending injured reserve due to lingering knee and ankle problems. On the "questionable" side of the injury report, seven players remain in limbo. Left guard Tyler Smith (knee), cornerback DaRon Bland (shoulder), cornerback Trevon Diggs (knee), defensive end Marshawn Kneeland (ankle), wide receiver Jonathan Mingo (knee), cornerback Caelen Carson (knee), and offensive tackle Ajani Cornelius (knee) are all listed with varying levels of uncertainty. Notably, Mingo and Carson are still technically on injured reserve but have begun practicing again within their 21-day return window.
There is some good news, however. Left tackle Tyler Guyton, who missed last Sunday’s matchup due to a concussion, has been cleared to play moving forward.
